Hi-Hat Comp #5
Just in time for Canadian Music Fest Hi-Hat & TWM are bringing Hi-Hat Comp #5 into the world! Featuring 15 artists 4 of which will be playing the release party!
We are trying a different release strategy this time by releasing the compilation on a dropcard which brings you to a digital download site. By doing it this way and keeping the costs down we can actually just give you one with your cover you pay at the door. Sweet, right?
Playing the release party are:
Toronto's the Cosmic Eye! The Cosmic Eye are a stupendously catchy up and coming indie-pop outfit. The track they've given to Hi-Hat for the comp "Club Friends" has been the soundtrack to my dreams for several months now. They'll get the night off to a high energy start.
Then we move into the Archives! Another young and eager Toronto band the Archives have not just made a splash in the Toronto music scene they are making a veritable tidal wave! The Archives bring the rock and have just released a brand spankin' new EP that you should most defintiely check out. A band you are sure to have on your radar in 2010.
Next are Rival Boys! Every time Rival Boys plays Rancho Relaxo it is an awesome night to be remembered. Packing tons of punch into their lean three piece setup. This band doesn't bury you with tricks, they just flat out rock and so with a ton of soul and without some fabricated attitude.
And closing out the night is our form of an after party performed by the Peace Leeches! The Peace Leeches need to be seen to be understood. When they played Rancho last I figured they were a 6 piece with all the gear on stage. But instead it was a two piece pulling off the sound of a 6 piece. Its indie-dance with hints of heavy rock mixed through and shout-outs to some 90's rock mixed throughout. Lead singer front woman Ray Stern is like the energizer bunny with whacked out face paint. There is no chance you will dislike this set. She just won't allow it!
